DAY #53

 MAY 31, 2023

• Joint statement issued by DA Meaghan Maloney & Chief Bonney of Waterville Police Department:

“As the District Attorney & Chief of Police we recognize the serious nature of sex crimes committed in our areas of responsibility. Our offices work collaboratively to investigate and, when appropriate, prosecute these heinous crimes. If for any reason, including lack of evidence, an investigation cannot lead to an arrest or a prosecution in not commenced, our offices still collaborate to provide the best care possible to the victim. This includes collaboration with advocates both inside our offices and from private, non-profit agencies.

If a victim is concerned about the trajectory of his or her case, we are both available to that person to discuss the investigation, and if necessary explain the actions of our employees. Because investigative information is confidential in Maine, we cannot share information regarding specific cases. However, it is important that our communities know our commitment and resolve to these complicated cases and to the victims remains unwavering.”

Meaghan Maloney, District Attorney of Kennebec & Somerset County

William Bonney, Interim Chief of Waterville Police Department

On that very same day I responded to Officer Allen’s request for further medical releases & request to have access to my phone & her call stating that she had updates for me on my case.

“Officer Allen, Thank you for reaching out. I would be happy to sign a medical release to allow you to gather my medical records related to this incident. I have previously signed full releases related to this issue with Officer Benecke. Is there a reason I need to sign again? If so, I will print this when I am at my office tomorrow & then drop it off at the PD.

Pulling the GPS location off my phone for the time in which I can’t remember anything would be great. How exactly is that done and how do I organize for that to occur so I can be there to see it happen. Should I have an attorney present as well? I am having trouble trying to determine the work that you are doing and how it might relate to the criminal charges against me.

You also stated on the phone that you have updates on what you have found conducting your investigation...can you please update me?  The questions that I sent you on 5.12.2023; have you found answers to any of them?  I can re-send them if you would like. Will you be able to update me on what interviews you have conducted and the identity of the people working at the Silver Street Tavern on the night this occurred? Thank you for your help with this, I am sure you have seen the number of people coming out about similar experiences. I am sad to hear about how this has been going on for so long.”
